Fans will soon see my best, says new super Eagles winger.

Super Eagles Olakunle Olusegun

‎Newly introduced Super Eagles winger, Olakunle Olusegun, has assured supporters that he is only just getting started and that better performances will follow as he settles fully into the national team environment.
According to a report by Own Goal Nigeria on Friday, October 31, 2025, Olusegun featured in Nigeria’s 4-0 victory over Benin Republic in the World Cup qualifiers.

He came on as a second-half substitute in the encounter that confirmed the Super Eagles’ place in next month’s playoff round in Morocco.

The match marked his first competitive appearance for the senior national team, having previously earned his unofficial debut during a 1-1 friendly draw against Russia.

The 24-year-old, who once starred for Nigeria at U17 level, is currently on loan at Pari NN from fellow Russian Premier League side Krasnodar.

His speed was evident during the qualifiers, but some observers felt his decision-making in key attacking positions will need sharper refinement.

Speaking to OwnGoalNigeria, Olusegun admitted that the rhythm and expectations at national team level require adjustment.

“Playing for Super Eagles is different from playing at your club. So many players you watched on TV some years ago and suddenly become your teammates. It’s not easy to process,” he explained.
Despite the early scrutiny, he remains confident that improved performances are on the horizon.

“I know I will get better with time and thankfully the coach likes my game. The fans will get to know me more and appreciate me better by the grace of God,” he added.

With Nigeria set to continue preparations for the crucial playoff stage, Olusegun’s determination and hunger are expected to boost competition for places on the wings.

This is an area where the Super Eagles already boast considerable talent.
