The super Eagles of Nigeria failed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup for the second time in a row after failing to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup African Playoff against DR Congo.
The performance of the team has been very unconvincing in recent times and many things need to be done in order to put the team back in shape.
One of the things that must surely be done is dropping some players from the team because they no longer bring any improvement to the team.

1. Alex Iwobi.
For a long time now the former Arsenal midfielder has been performing below the standard whenever he wears the super Eagles jersey. He has barely been a liability for the team in the last few years.
His performance for the clubs is always very much better than what he does for the super Eagles. It is clear that most of these players are never ready to give their all for the team.
Iwobi brings zero creativity to the super Eagles team, he is defensively poor and has failed to replace Mikel Obi in the team. It is time for the super Eagles to find a better midfielder and look away from Alex.
2. Stanley Nwabali.
The South Africa based Goalkeeper became the first choice goalkeeper for the super Eagles of Nigeria due to lack of good keepers in the team, it was looking like an upgrade to Uzoho, Akpeyi, Okoye and the likes at the time.
But it is now obvious that he is only just in the same caliber with those flopped Nigerian goalkeepers. It’s unfortunate but the super Eagles of Nigeria really need to continue their search for a good goalkeeper.
With Stanley Nwabali in goal, the super Eagles of Nigeria will definitely not go far in the upcoming African cup of nations. He is overconfident despite not being good, always making school boy errors.
3. Samuel Chukwueze.
The former Villarreal FC winger was once one of the best players in the Super Eagles team but he lost his for about two years ago, he has not been able to establish himself in a football club, so why is he still being invited?
He has been a shadow of himself and should have no business in the national team.There’s no doubt that Samuel Chukwueze can still pickup himself and become better, but for now he should have nothing to do with the Super Eagles.
There is no need recycling these players who are not delivering the result for the team, but rather they should make room for other players to be tested in the team. without this, the super Eagles of Nigeria will definitely continue struggling.
